Summer at the Village is off to an amazing start! Our theme “Around the World” has kept the children busy with continent related trivia, activities, and art projects. To kick off the summer, the children learned about Antarctica. I think everyone in the Village learned a thing or two! For example, did you know that it hardly ever snows in Antarctica? Children also had the opportunity to play dress-up in cold weather clothes, make a penguin in the art gallery, and play with ice in the Apothecary. We look forward to many other fun, informative weekly themes as summer progresses.
Mini courses are also in full swing. The children are enjoying the opportunity to explore their particular interests more in depth. Art, sports, cooking, and science fill the Village every day between 1:30 and 3:00. Along with trips to Cobblestone and our field trips and in house events, we’re all looking forward to continuing our awesome summer!

The Easter Bunny Visits Rainbow Station
A very special grandfather came to visit our Hanover Preschool location on April 1st. Some of our children were a little scared and refrained from coming within 10 feet, some even 20 feet without tears. Here are some of our children and staff that got to visit with him and wish him happy Easter greetings!

Gina, thanks for the opportunity to share feedback with you. Both [teachers] have been true blessing this year. We can all appreciate the needs of my rather high energy (yes, that's code for high maintenance! :) daughter. [The teacher] provides a calming environment that encourages good behavior and is very suited for her. [My child] needs just the right amount of guidance and lots of affection of which she gets both on a daily basis. [The teacher] is able to expertly balance discipline, learning, independence and love to her kids. It takes a special person to manage 8 2-3 year olds, kudos to her!!
On the same note, it takes an equally special person to be around infants all day, not to mention 4 at one time! I don't know how [The teacher] does it, but she handles "her" kids with such grace. She's happy to see us in the morning and is always will to try something new with my every changing infant. I know that he's in excellent hands and have never once worried about leaving [my child] with her, even at an early age. She has shown both of my kids warmth and affection and for that I thank her.
I would also like to say thanks to [The Assistant Teacher]. I'm not sure how long she's going to be in the infant room, I suspect that she'll be heading off to school soon. I must tell you, I'm already sad to see her go. She is a wonderful person with a gentle soul and kind spirit. I know that [my child] is in good care when [The Assistant Teacher] is watching over him. They really have the infant room covered!

Flashback to the Back to School Picnic

Outdoor time with the babies
Our Infant Room class spent some time outside in the warm weather. You can usually find them on the nursery playground "basking" and spending some quality time with their teachers!
Woodworking with Preschoolers
Our children gain benefits by working in the woodworking center. They include: eye hand coordination, self confidence, fine motor development, just to name a few. Here's the Gold Room exploring this outdoor center!
